An inaugural lecture by donna Kukama, as the professor of contemporary art / global south at KHM.
The lecture, which was a composition of universes made up of dreams, rituals, and forms of alchemy that center the body as an ancestral archive, insisted on memory and breath as tools for writing history.
This work merges Kukama’s ongoing doctoral research with her current academic position, by simultaneously addressing questions of knowledge production and memory work. In her presentation, Kukama unsettles how and whose histories are centered in Europe while applying forms of producing knowledge that are not necessarily harvested within academia.
